Fish Tails - Winter sports

Even here in the tropics, we also have our winter season
and different sports than summer season. The large tarpon
are gone and yellow fin tuna started to arrive two weeks
ago. Kinda like winter ice fishing in Wisconsin I'm
thinking.

Today, our first opportunity to go dragging lures for
tuna proved successful. 4 hookups and two nice fish boated.
Fresh, pan seared tuna with cold center cannot be beat.

We also saw a cool old submarine and a bank barge. One
of Homeland Security stealth intercept boats nabbed some
medium sized fishing boat for something. Spooky-those stealth boats.

enjoy the photos,

Nice fish, Dale, but I don't think you got him through the ice! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
The sub is way newer than WWII, and probably a nuc.
Here's a WWII Sub, the USS Gato.

Thanks, Barry. I was about to PM you get you to do an ID on that for me! I'm no good after fleet boats or Type VII U boats.
Jeff

No worries Jeff, I've heard more of them than I've seen before. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
Dale, you may be able to get a tour on that thing, a couple of cases of Amstel is the usual currency IIRC.

I dunno Dale. that "bank boat" rivals those other cargo ships we saw as the "ugliest thing afloat" in my opinion.
Looks like a tarped pole barn, or a giant floating dumpster.

Up here in the "Real North" we do some ice fishin'
One has to be careful though, cause when you cook it, the darn stuff melts, and a few people have been drown.

That is a nice fish. How come , when I'm there we have Lechon
and then you have Tuna? I'm jealous.
And no more pictures of boats that sink and then reappear. That's just scary to me. Brings Red October to mind.

See you later gater!!
Dave

Dave,

Any real "Up North" ice fisherman will tell you that befor you cook the ice you 1st have to dehydrate it. Won't drown you then but there isn't much left in the pan when you are done.
