I was surfing for some answers to a problem my son is having with his camaro when I stumbled on the British Car Forum. I listed my favorite car as the XKE as I think it is a great looking car but I own a 72 MGB which is only the third british sports car I have driven. I have never even riden in an XKE. The other two I have driven were a 68 Sprite I literally drug home (on a trailer)that was wrecked and rotting in a guy's back yard, that I fixed up and eventually gave my son,and a 61 TR3. I did get a ride in a TR2 before that in the late 50"s. That TR3 almost turned me off of British sports cars because it was so heavy on the steering and it wasn't until I drove the MGB I have now that I fell in love with it and just had to have it.
I will put a couple of photos of my car which I just fixed up for the second time in 22 years of ownership.
 
Welcome to the forum. You will enjoy it here, I promise you. I think that we all lust after the E-Types to some extent, but the MGB is a fine car that will give you lots of fun and reloiable service. Good to have you aboard.
 
welcome to the forum and my B does nicely, thank you. I'd hate to have the insurance and other headaches the come with the Jag.
 
I love my little B...and so does my buddy who owns an XKE. We compare notes on costs of buying and driving them and I could have 4 MGB's for what he has in his old Jag. LOL But when push comes to shove, his will be replaced soon with a newer Jag and he will keep his XKE for sentiment reasons. He bought it new and has a wife and 3 kids who all hate the Jag...so it is his home away from home all to himself. My old gal just loves to run though, and she will always be my pride and joy, too.

Hi guys, well, when it comes right down to it I prefer my "B" also. I can't afford a jag but they sure look nice at the british car shows. I kinda like the Austin Healey also but I really have a nice car and enjoy it tremendously. I probably have over 300,000 miles on it now. I don't know because the odometer broke in 1989 at 221,000.
No, Bruce 74B, I'm not a fisherman. It stands for the musical instrument. That is one of the instruments I play. It is a take off from the old song where they sing about mr bass man. I have been to Harrisburg, though. My son married a gal from up there in York. I also have some friends that used to be from New Bloomfield. They live in Hickory, N.C. now. Nice country up there in P.A. Looks like great roads for MG's.
 
Thanks, I think if I had an XKE I would keep the "B" because I have driven it so many years , I know just how it is going to react in most situations and I would miss it. The only modifications I have done to it are what make it handle better such as lower profile tires and larger anti sway bar in the front and the addition of one in the rear. I did put an infra red pickup ignition on it, however.
