Only those folks who have experienced the pain of a ground up restore first hand would fully understand why we were near tears when this fully rebuilt engine popped to life after a few turns, and ran smoothly! It does need some adjustment. This clip is pre any adjustment. It's almost like the birth of a child.

Looks great...! my engine comes out this week for a strip down & assessment.. hasn't been run for at 16.10 (1).jpg16.10 (4).jpgleast 10 years maybe longer.....

Thanks guys.

Mine looked worse than yours Ian. I like your orange and blue color scheme. Mine was silver, green and black.

Based on the blue, red, yellow combination, I think that motor was built for export to Romania or Columbia....

They all come in brown (dirt/rust), black (grease/oil), and spotted green (original engine color). I added the silver to the intake and valve cover when I was a ignorant youngster back in the day. Mine is mostly original color now. Don't look at the black exhaust manifold. Maybe that high temp black paint will stay on and maybe it won't.

Last time I personnaly rebuilt my engine in 1970, Healey green wasn't readily available. I used a Ford Green and the engine never ran that well. Later I had the engine re-rebuilt professionally in 1999; it got painted Moss Healey green. Ran very well for the next 17 years.
During my current restoration I painted the engine Bill Hirstner Healey Green. So far the engine runs strong but I've only driven 5 miles in the last 3 years, so the jury is still out on how it will perform.
BTW, the Hirstner Green was a closer match to the original color of the engine based on original remnants of the paint on the transmission.
I have not data on how an engine would run painted in the colors of Romania/Columbia, but I'm not going to repaint mine to fine out.....
