Definitely a bit bouncy. That's down the list a bit, as I want to make sure I can go and stop before I worry about how well I can go. I've been enjoying the puttering, though, and getting over my fears of working on things like brakes.

Didn't know you were a Moss distributor as well. Always nice to have a couple of sources.
 
The pump as I remember works suspriseingly well, a couple of pushes and you got windshelds washed. Not much use for some of us anymore but I used the other two as daily drivers for 25 years or so and used em.

Now, again not a lot of use down here in Florida but I will continue looking for a Heater switch. If not found when I do the dash I will just cover the hole till I do find one.
 
I have my old heater switch as well, but the cable was cut, and I'm not sure that the electrical part works either. I was thinking about getting a wiper switch and putting a "H" knob on it for the fan switch. I would then mount some sort of cable pull underneath the dash for the flap. This would give a factory look with the available parts.
 
There must be a way to replace that cable.

And your idea would work as well but it is not just the nob, look at them both again, they take different cutouts etc.

Someone put that choke cable on there in fact if there is a couple of inchs left I know it can be extended, might look like heck but would be under the dash in any case.
 
Jack, I'm working on a couple of different approaches to refurbish these controls. Let me have a bit of time to play around.

Congrats on the first ride! Car looks real nice. I remember my first ride vividly, as I drove it home after buying it. Passenger seat and trunk filled with spare parts, top down in early March, with my wife piloting the "spotter" car behind me. Car ran great, and has from then until now. Finally had to work on the carb a litte. I was skittish about touching it, but it was not that bad after diving in. Like you, I was also skittish about doing thte brakes completely over, but it was a necessity not an option. Once I got in there, it was not that bad. I did not touch the MC, though, as it was in great shape, having been rebuilt at some point in the past. Working at a deliberate pace with a trustworthy shop reference book makes it easier. I actually have 2 copies of my shop manual. One stays in the house, and one I use when I am working, cause it gets dirty, and also I can take notes right in the book for future reference.
