Second Prize is two weeks....

SWMBO & I are heading to Newport for a week and decided to spend a night in Albany. Had a lovely drive and came to check into the prebooked hotel.

Won't say the name but rhymes with dead goof Inn :D - spidey sense starts tingling when as I walk into the lobby, one woman is just leaving with the desk fellow saying, 'I'm sorry the hotel is full you can't change rooms' - and the young woman ahead of me wanting to talk to the manager.

Get to the room (this is suppertime) and the room has neither been cleaned or made up - and the ceiling looks like it is caving in.

Went back to the office - got another room

Made up yes, but no towels

went back to the office and got towels

Went back to the room, SWMBO pulls back the quilt - 'ummm honey, aren't we supposed to have sheets?'

back to the office to check out.

Went to supper had a lovely CAB and a pulled pork sandwich - made a reservation for another (slightly more - OK a lot more pricey) hotel (hotels are expensive in Albany - why?) Finished supper, drove 15 minutes to new hotel only to find it was the right chain but the wrong hotel - drove back 15 minutes because, of course it was only on the same flippin' street as the first hotel. :rolleyes2:

SWMBO is happy, I am happy, don't need to come to Albany again and weirdly, the first hotel had very good reviews.

OTOH things can only go up - and no hospitals or police were involved in the telling of this story.

Enjoy your stay in Newport. It’s too bad you’re not here longer. You could join us at the British Motorcars in Bristol show June 10th and 11th. You might want to check out the Audrain Auto museum while you’re here.

At least the maid wasn't wearing a hockey goalie mask and telling you they'd be finishing cleaning the red stuff in the tub shortly...
Not far off..... actually she did stick her head in while all was going on to mention they were out of toilet paper and sheets.

Into the timeshare in Newport - sooooo much better

How are you liking little Rhody?
Loving it! Not doing too aweful much - lots of resting and reading, but, today was a short sail which was gorgeous. We typically eat out once a day (nd aren't eating in restaurants yet) Today was amazing Barbeque - we were prepared to split an order of pulled pork nachos and then a pulled pork sandwich. Took one look at the nachos and cancelled the sandwich. Very yummy.

Tomorrow is calling for rain so I am hoping for the Herreshoff Marine Museum.

We particularly appreciate that the timeshare is right in town so we can walk everywhere. (If nothing else, one of the closer parking lots is $30 flat rate!)

Definitely will come again.
