I just wanted to say hello, I will more than likley be spending alot of time in this site. I look forward to all of the knowledge and helping hands as I attempt to restore a 1960 AH 3000.

Some info on how I came uppon this car.
My father(step dad but still father to me) bought this car in 1961 in New York, NY. He did some road racing with it and I dont know to much behind the cars history. I know that in 1986 when he and my Mom got married (I was born in 80) he parked the car in a storage unit in Illinois. He was in the middle of rebuilding the engine and stripping the car for new paint. The car has sat there the entire time. He passed away about a month ago and left the car to me. I havent seen the car in forever and decided to take a look at it this weekend. The storage unit is also full of boxes, lots of boxes. When I opened the unit I couldnt beleive there was a car in the mess somewhere. After about 1.5hrs of me and a friend moving boxes we spotted it, the car was left in complete bare metal and alot of it was unassembeled. To my amazement it all looks like surface rust, the only rust hole I have spotted so far is on the rear fender(wing?) but it appeared to be there prior to parking it, it was shiny with sand marks so I guess my dad had plans of fixing it. Well I still need to empty the unit and get a better idea of what I am dealing with. The good thing is I am very good with cars and mechanical in general. The bad is this technology is older than I am use to so I am pretty lost so far but also havent really had time to look at everything.
Thanks for reading my story, I am going to post a question in the tech section and hope I can get some help.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the best forum for British Cars on the internet.....you certainly came to the right place!

You should really join one of the Healey clubs, in addition to all the other things that you have planned. They will be more than happy to provide advice, guidance, and even a little help from time to time.

Editor Reid, the moderator for the Healey forum is editor of the club magazine, and would be happy to be of assistance if you send him a PM......

Welcome Chris:

Sorry for the recent loss of your step-Dad.
He has left you something that I hope to do for my kids.....passing on a "kept in the family" British car.

There is a lot of knowledge here and I believe you will be able to get many answers to questions. But putting Humpty-Dumpty together again can be a hard slog (I've done this sort of thing a few times). Be patient and stick with it....it'll be worth it!

G'luck!
