I had bought the complete cooling hose replacement set from TRF, and was all set to install the heater hoses near the carbs of the 250. I was so excited to get to this project on a bright sunny day. The fuel tank and radiator have been cleaned and re-installed, the water pump, belt, and front hoses all were fit last week. All I needed to do today was change out these heater hoses and I could fill it with coolant, change the oil, put some gas in it and see what happens.
What do you know, the heater return pipe to the water pump is broken. It split in two at some point. The PM (previous mechanic) used "bend to fit" hose to move it outside the manifold, and under the carbs. New heater hose I bought from Lowe's won't hold position (I bought extra at Lowes when I noticed there was one extra hose than TRF sent), hence cooling hoses would rest on exhaust manifold. Not good, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif
I called Moss Motors, who discontinued it, and TRF which of course is sold out indefinately. Last resort was Vicky Brit who has it, at about 1.5 times the price of the other two. I guess this is classic car ownership, when the part is needed, the wallet bleeds..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
