It's always interesting to find out what has broken in our LBC while just setting in the garage. How do they do that??

We all know we should have hit the brakes and clutch every couple of weeks, Yea, like that's going to happen. So be prepared to put some fluid in these and hope you had a pan under the car to catch the leaks. The hardest one to find is the rear wheel cylinder and this one can cost you time and a few dollars to fix. Save yourself a set of brake shoes and have a look at the inside of the rear wheel after you pump the brakes. If you see fluid, take the wheels off and put new rubbers in the wheel cylinder, the shoes should be fine if you didn't roll the wheel. The clutch will make itself known very quickly.

If you filled you tank before putting it away for the winter sleep have a look at the oil, if it shows to be high, check for a gas smell. If a needle and seat failed, the full tank is higher than the carbs and it can fill up the sump with gas. On this note we TR guys are lucky, grab a yard stick and steer up the gas in the tank, as anything seating over a couple of months will separate and the water will be on the bottom, really bad running and will make you start looking for problems that aren't there. Sorry MGB guys, rock your baby.

You can stop a flooding problem by taking the hoses loose at the carbs and shooting some carb cleaner in there. It will brake up any sticky on the seats and the bottom of the bowl. If you can do this a couple of days before the launch, all the better.

Many other things will come up, tire pressure for one. Go easy on the brakes until all is checked out.

Have fun, Wayne

I can't wait for the first drive of the year. Too bad it won't be for a couple more months up here in the cold north.

I've been out quite a few times this winter with the TR6, but still hesitating on bringing the TR8 home from storage.

I dunno how you do it.

87° here today -- at least you have reminded me to take a moment to appreciate it.

Wednesday we visit a race car restoration shop in Arivaca (Lolas et al). Saturday to a collection of Jag C-types and D-types in Mesa. Sunday to the Wheels of Britain show in Phoenix & the JCNA Western concours in Chandler.

March-April and September-October are the primo months for road trips in AZ.

Okay, you'll get even with me in June but at least hot weather doesn't absolutely preclude driving.

Checked the forecasts and they're predicting 60s and Sunny for this Thursday. I know what I'll be doing. Taking the TR3 out for a drive and shake the winter cobwebs out of it.
