First Drive Of Season

Hi all

yesterday i had the first drive of the season in Nigel.everything was going well until i pushed in the clutch and brake to make a turn and the engine cut out. it picked up again after i let the clutch off. until the next corner.... same thing happened but this time the car didnt restart after letting the clutch out. i got to the side of the road and tried to restart the car but i had no power at all. the fuel pump didnt even click. no starter click nothing.......

any ideas?
Thanks Ray

FIRST check the fluid levels in your battery(s). If those are ok, then check the alternator. If you can put the battery(S) on a charger do so, and see if they can hold a charge. If they can, then you definitely need to rebuild your alternator or get a new one.

Clean the battery terminals and charge the battery if necessary. When the car idles down the generator would not have enough punch to keep juice flowing if the battery is dead or contact is lost. It would stay running with the battery disconnected until you idle. Awwww MAYBE..???? Just a stab in the dark on this one. There are probably other things that it could be also. Good luck and get'er back on the road. Bob

any results? or have you just not had time to look into it yet?

HI Guys

ok so i got out t the garage this week and go Nigel up and running.
First thing i did was put in a fully charged good battery. Still no start. not even a click.
so i started testing and cleaning connections. first connections. the battery cables. at the battery i cleaned when i put the battery in, but i didnt check the ground at the body. DUMB move should have been the first thing i checked. spent two hours cleaning connections to find out that the battery cable was rusty at the body and the cable it self was just crappy feeling so i picked up new cables and boom turned right over. it also appears to run better a little smoother.

now if i can get the rain to go away.........

thanks for the help

Ray
