First BJ8 start engine, first problems ...!

What a lovely day, after a complete rebuilding engine and a restoration from scratch of my BJ8, the engine started his first time today ...!!!!!

But at the beginning I respected the order of the spark ignition with no success, after analysing the ignition distributor I discover that all the order of the wire sparks are inversed. So after inversing all the wire sparks, the engine starts immediately, as you could see in the picture below :

How I could put the ignition and the wire sparks in the right order ?

Thank you

It looks like your distributor is 180 degrees out - #1 wire should be about where you have #6. To change, pull the distributor and then remove the three bolts holding the tachometer drive and pull it out a short distance and rotate the drive 180 degrees & re install the three bolts. The slot you see in the shaft below the distributor should be at the "twenty-to-two" position as shown in the manual - also note that the slot is off-center and you need the smaller side towards the bottom. Then put the plug wires back in the normal positions. I expect when you pull the distributor you will find the smaller segment on the upwards side with the larger segment towards the bottom. There are some good pictures in the Bently Manual, pages 72 & 73.

BTW, there is no harm in leaving it the way you have it, it's just not the way they did it at the factory.

Let us know what you find please.
