(Sure hope those guys knew how to shift to neutral and take off the parking brake first!)

High winds (60 to 100mph), no air support and some cities in the fire zone, like Camarillo, ran out of water at 0% containment. All acts of bravery to "run what you brung".

There was also a photo of some firefighters pushing a red TR6 out of harms way as they are with the MGA. I’ve spent way too much time looking at news reports since my brother’s house is in Moorpark.

I spent 18 summers flying air tankers on wild fires. Those ground firefighters are amazing people. The work incredibly long hours in extreme conditions for not a lot of money. They often put themselves in real danger to save houses and property for people they have never met.

Yeah, the Borate Bomber name stuck with us for many years. In fact, the use of borate as a retardant was discontinued very early on. It seems that the stuff would solidify in the tank if it sat for a while. When you dropped it on the fire, it came out as big rocks. The ground firefighters really hated that.

Borate??
