fine tuning body work

My local jobber turned me on to a product that makes the final fine tuning easier. I started using random spray cans for my guide coat. They gummed up my sandpaper pretty quickly. The product I got is 3M Dry Guide Coat. It works great, easy to apply, shows low spots nicely and doesn't clog sandpaper. And, no I don't sell the stuff. Here's the url.

It is pretty much the 99 cent flat black cheap spray paint.
You can NOT use the good spray or it gums up.
Cheap, quick dry, economy flat black, it's not real good for painting parts but it works great for guide coats.
And just a very very light dusting when you do it.
1 spray can should do 2 or 3 Spridgets a few times each.

As a gerneral rule - dry guide coat for dry sanding & wet dry coat for wet sanding

A little tip to make the wet sanding a bit easier on the paper: Add a little liquid dishwashing detergent to the water used for sanding. It helps keep the paper from clogging, and makes your paint smell lemony fresh. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
