TR2/3/3A Finding a long lost TR3

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find a specific TR3. My dad purchased a '57 TR3 in Germany while in the army and had it shipped to the states. He sold it in the mid '60s to someone who last had it in California.

I'm sure it's a long shot, but he's always wanted to know if it's still around. Anyone have any thoughts on how to find it? Are there any organizations that maintain a database of such things?

The serial number he has is 05406012 TS15270LO.

Appreciate the help.

I just went over to the Vintage Triumph Register to see if that website has a way, but no. You might try emailing them though to see if they have it in their active “registry”. An idea. Jim

Also, law enforcement has a database of VINs, but they’re pretty tight on how it’s used…

Google "tracking vehicles by vin". You will get several apparently useful hits, but I don't know what they do or what they charge.
