Finally working on the Elan again...

I took some time off to play with the Cortina, but until the regi issue is sorted out it's back to the Elan again.. Mostly i just have interior to do, and I'm fitting the GFI interior package. This is a fiberglass interior which provides pedal boxes, sills, cool door panels and a neat package tray in the rear.

Because no two Elans are exactly alike I have to custom fit the panels somewhat, but the work is going well. Pretty much everything is fitting now, just the back deck upper panel needs to be widened a bit ( you'd think they would make them too big so you could just trim them instead of too small, so that you have to build the fiberglass out! )

I will post some pictures of this setup when I am done, to see what you folks think. We put this int in my father in-laws Elan, and it was a real hit! The added bonus is that you never have to dry out or replace carpets or trim panels again..

The seats are just the origional ones.. the carpet issue is optional. It would be just from the seat brackets in front to the rear bulkhead.. most of that area is under the seat anyway so you can't see it. I think I will lay a piece of carpet in there for sound deadning, but otherwise besides the seats, there will be no fabric.

It really helps to have a nice finish on the inside of the car, because you can see the trans tunnel around and under the dash with this kit.
