Finally drove it to a meeting

After 3 1/2 months I was finally able to take her out on my longest run yet, to my local MG clubs meeting. Only hicup was running out of gas /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Most everyone came over to check it out and give me tips. Seasoned guys were impressed at many of its original point and how clean it was. I've been working my but off and I took all the compliments with pride.

Hats off to all who've given me their 2P in helping me resurrect her.

Suggestions were;
Valves need adjusting (again) really bad.
Much better wires.
Petronix Iggy
Adjust the timing but more than a base of 10Âşstatic
I might have a wiped cam lobe
Readjust the carbs

They were throwing so much info at me all at once I could not keep up.

I was offered an aluminum hood & new (used) chrome strips sans dents. Also was able to sell 3 more GT SPECIALS badges that I have for the GT.

Overall a good night and much thanks again.

You'll want to install the Pertronix and make sure the valves are adjusted properly before trying to set the carbs up. I've found out the hard way that trying to do it any other way is a folly. 90% of carb problems are due to something else.

Grats guy, nice to hear that you are on the road.

Now it really begins...the more you drive her, the more you'll want to do to her.

Yea but he is learning by leaps and bounds and now starts to enjoy the fruit of his labor.

They were hitting me from all angles last night I was getting dizzy. Do this and do that. Wow i've never seen that before. I'll do some changing and some learning & some changing. At least I feel I have something to work on that "will" work.

Remember, a lot of it was based on personal preferences - not necessarily the best way to go but each guy's favorite way to go (i.e., Pertronics versus Crane)...do your homework & develop your own preferences.

Congrats...It only gets better from here.

Great Vinnie

IMHO get the valves and iggy straitened out a bit. Then play with the carbs. After fix each thing that you remember and take the criticism as complements from those who car.

At least that is what I do when I post a pic. I love to get input on how to make a LBC more original or better. Please note that some will be ludicrious and filter those out.

Rule of thumb is that if two persons make a recommendation, it should be considered, unless it comes from our yoda's.

Great Work, Patrick
