64bj8 II. Finally - after 21 months - my 1st drive

Hi all. And just a quick shout out to all my fellow Healey owners here in California. Is it hot and humid or what? Last 3 days, temps up here in NorCal are hitting 119. Just sitting here typing, I feel as hot as driving the Healey on a hot day with the heater on.

Kinda like last Saturday.

My first drive in her in 21 months. I drove her from my house to the interior shop, about 20 minutes away. Together we were to install the jute, rugs and top. I drove her there, with most of the parts including the top laying in my car.

Yup, all that was installed was my seat and seat belts. Just a Dynamat floor and a windshield. No door glass, no trans cover, not even back seats, nada. Just outside temp over 100 and inside healey temp of, boy...this car generates a lot of hot air. Now I know a lot of heat comes from the trans area. I could watch my sweat drop right though there. The hottest ride I've ever had in a Healey. But I got to drive her, and it was great!

We only got the top installed and some of the jute and rug. Tuesday, I will drive her back and see if we can finish the job. And yes, we are still in a heat wave. But I now have room to bring the trans cover, thank you very much. Roger

Congratulations Roger. I know how much effort you've put into her, and even though it's not the same as that maiden voyage when she's all put together, that first drive had to feel great.

Hi Roger:
Our Healeys demand blood, sweat and tears but most of all, enjoyment. Congratulations on your efforts thus far…enjoying this first tempting thrill ride was well deserved. GONZO

Congratulations....

I suspect my first drive is 21 months in the future....
