After a long hiatus from it, I am fianally back to putting my beloved 67 XKE back together. I'm currently working on the front suspension. I'll keep a running diary of my progress here on the forum and will be posting pics as well. So far, I have have the front sway bar, links, brake dust covers and a few other bits powder coated and installed new Poly bushings up front. Also have installed new lower ball joints and tie rod ends and will soon do the upper joints. Not sure yet what type of shocks I'm going to use, but I'm leaning toward SPAX. More to come....

Ok, finally got the upper ball joints done! Only thing I'm not sure about is if I have enough (or too many) shims. The manuel said remove shims until you can move the ball joints. Well, I can move them, but they are very tight. I am wondering if I should remove one more shim. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

That wouldn't look bad if you just cleaned it up a bit

So who's is it? I once knew an Air Force major in Utah who had on just like it.

It's part of the Brumos collection (of Brumos Porsche racing fame) from Jacksonville FL. I don't have the details on it (I'm not much of a note taker). The whole thing looked like it absolutely just rolled out of the factory. Every switch, stitch, piece of metal and fabric all looked absolutely positively perfect (except fingerprints from the *^&%$ lookers).

From the look of the interior, and the shifter without a boot, I'm guessing this was a 67 (like mine)? Mine also is sans boot, which was correct for when my car was made. I'd be initerested (if can find out) what the VIN# is. Mine is 1E13333. I'm curious where this on is relative to mine. Also, maybe we can find out if its on the EType owner's list we post here on the forum.

Cheers,
Basil

I looked around quite a bit for more info on it - to no avail. I believe it is part of the Brumos Collection. Brumos is a well known Porsche dealer, race team owner, and race school operator based in Jacksonville FL. He's got a selection of Porsche 908, 917, 356, and the typical 911/944/914 types, plus at least one XK120, a polished Aston Martin DB4 (I'm assuming it's a light weight Aluminum version, polished silver), a bunch of others. There was at least one other racer/collector displaying but I think he only deals with historic Porsches.

I'll check and see what they have (if anything) at the races in September, or December if we have another late season HSR/Rolex series race.

Great pictures...and what a beautiful E-type! Granted...I know this ain't no Ferrari forum, but how about a picture of that red thing thats seen in the reflection of the chrome under the window of the E-type interior picture....

I mean seriously....if we're allowed to like Corvettes, we should at least tolerate the occasional Italian beast too...even if they are held together with metric bolts!

Ferraris eh. How about I move it over to the "other cars" section later on.

OH yeah, did I mention that picture is a fake (I say sulking, bowing my head in shame)?

I have the original picture here somewhere of the E-type sitting by itself before I stuck it in front of my stuff
