Had a few minutes to play with the BE today. As some of you may remember, I posted about my passenger door in the past. To summarize, the passenger door didn't close unless you held the handle down.

I looked at the driver side door and noticed that the striker was severely worn. To compensate for the wear, someone installed a shim behind the striker to push it forward so that the latch would securely catch.

I looked at the passenger side. The striker is new. Hmmm. Removed it and behind it was hiding a shim - just like that on the drivers side. I removed the shim, reinstalled the striker and, just like magic, the passenger door now closes properly.

Just a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

Howdy Bill,

Thats really interesting cause I have the same situation on "BOTH" my doors!! Its not really a problem & actually makes me feel quite secure in the car but; It would be nice to have it correct.

I`m going to check that out today.

Think I read in one of the factory assembly manuals that the shims one or two were to be utilized as required.
