Fess up - who has used fiberglass fenders?

I'm getting severely tempted here. The front fenders I pulled are probably beyond saving and the fiberglass ones I have seem to fit well....

(let the beatings begin)

Mine had them installed when I bought the car. They seemed ok. But they had a few chips in them.

Also the DPO glued, yes glued them on. So the got really torn up when I took them off.

They went in the trash heap.

I would not buy them, but if I had them, rather then spending another grand for 'new' ones, I would have no problem installing fiber glass fenders. This is assuming they fit well.

Purists will scoff, and you will not get high scores if you intend to show the car. But if your desire is to drive and drive the car, who cares?

You might wonder about resale (unless you'll keep it forever). When looking for my car, I saw one with four fiberglass fenders. It was a fairly nice car with nice paint but I walked away because I didn't want 'glass. To fix it would cost me four fenders AND a new paint job. I saw the car later on eBay. Being an honest guy, the owner stated that it had 'glass fenders in the posting. He posted it three times and never got a bid.

Mine has fiberglas front fenders. Look and fit well. And fortunately are not glued on .... (glued ????!!!! good grief!).

Mine has all 4 fiberglass fenders and they look and fit great. My car is modified anyway so purists be damned on this one. If I had a car that had all steel fenders and say only 1 needed replaced I would probably go with steel, but mine was that way when I go it and that's ok by me.

For reasons unknown to me, DPO Pedro tore out
Crypty's firewall,installed fiberglass and painted
it red.

HAHA Glued. Jesus Christo. I could just imagine that mess. Your DPO sounds much worse than mine. I thought I had it bad with black duct tape.

I have four glass fenders that I took off a car, but I've never put any on. I guess I like to watch metal rust.

I have fibreglass front fenders. I also have the original metal ones in the shed. The fibreglass ones fitted to the car are of very good quality and fit well. I won't be putting the metal ones back on anytime soon.

Craig

Thanks for the input guys.

I was all fired up about getting my fenders fixed, then realized I was in over my head, and then the body work guy indicated that they were really far gone....
