Hey Basil,

Our local PBS station has been showing old Fawlty Towers reruns for the last couple of months. Last night they ran the "Basil's Fire Drill" episode. That's the one where Basil ends up in the hospital with his head bandaged. The one that was the source of your old avatar.
 
Wow - if our local PBS stations would run Fawlty Towers during pledge time (instead of Die Rich, Eat your way to Health, Live Forever, or Dr. Quacko's Skin Magic), a lot more people would be watching and contributing.

Couldn't agree more. Some of the hucksters they run during Pledge ฬถWฬถeฬถeฬถkฬถ Month make me think I'm watching one of the cable channels at 2 a.m. And sheesh, some of the entertainment programs during pledges are just as bad. Victor Borge and Lawrence Welk? Unless their fans have figured out how to donate post-mortem, I can't believe a lot of potential donors are watching that programming.

BTW -did you know there were only 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers, 6 in 1975 and 6 in 1979? Always surprised me there were so few.
 
My first remembrance of British comedy on PBS was around 1972, when I started watching ~Doctor in the House~

John Cleese and Graham Chapman were writers for that show.
 
I bought my wife the complete "Keeping Up Appearances" on DVD for Christmas.
 
With the crud they lay during pledge week it is amazing they get any money.
 
Did I mention my Jaguar is named Onslow? Wonder where that came from?
