Favorite Album, song and why

There are so many good songs and I love all types of music, but the first song that comes to mind was written by George Harrison and performed by the Beatles first: "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"-simply beautiful.

A song that I really like that surprised me because I am not, and never have been, a fan of Metallica or that style of music is their tune "Enter Sandman". I first got onto it when I saw them play it on PBS with a full orchestra backing them. When it comes on my car radio now I crank it up to eleven!

...And Warren Zevon's music was elegant. I saw that last TV show. His last song, an ode to his mesothelioma, was stunning, but uplayable for US audiences.
~It's Here~ (but warning.....VERY bad language).
Enjoy every sandwich. Indeed...

The great irony of that song (well, Warren was the master of irony) was that he wrote, recorded and released it years before he found out he was sick.

This one too (don't worry, this one's playable in polite company):

Here's one he wrote after he was diagnosed (ditto, it's playable in polite company too):

Another group that I always enjoyed was the New York Rock and Roll Ensemble. The group included several Julliard students, and would do Bach trio sonatas as intros to their original rock numbers. They blew me away in concert doing "A Whiter Shade of Pale" using the English Horn for the organ solo. I have just about everything they did on disk and on vinyl. Here is their spin on the Brandenburg Concerto:
