TR2/3/3A Fat Valve Cover Spout 1960 3A

Back to having fun with my TR. Had the plating done some years ago. They did a great job, perhaps too good. My valve cover cap won't fit on my valve cover spout. Top of spout mic's out at 1.535" and the interior of the cap is 1.507". Any good ideas about filing or sanding that hard chrome surface down to get a fit?
All thoughts greatly appreciated!

Hey Dick; I wouldn't mess with the valve cover I'd fool with the cap. Take a dremel to the inside of the cap.

I'm going to measure mine when I get home, but I can't see ANY electroplating being thicker then a few thou. I would suspect that the cap ain't right.

Edit: I just measured my oil cap spout on the valve cover, and it measures 1.503". So, I guess you have some really thick plating on that cover!!

<span style="font-size: 12pt">One of the platers tricks is to put a giant clamp on something to get a good electrical connection for the plating process, thus sometimes distorting the part. Did you mike the spout all the way around?
