"Fast Road" camshaft question

Hey friends, asking here because I need a reasonably quick answer (5 hours) and everyone comes here where they may not go to specific marque boards. Right now, on Ebay there is a "fast Road Camshaft" for my Vauxhall Viva. I don't have any plans to modify the engine (except that it is bored 30 thou over) but, it is new and seems reasonably priced so I am wondering whether to get it. It is a piper cam and comes with a spec sheet.

So, here is my question, what will it get me? where will I compromise? Is it worth it or I am getting grief or something I can't use (FWIW I do currently have 2 cams but, I presume they are stock - they are used but I don't know how worn)

Here is the link. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vauxhall...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20ce83b28e

thanks

Hey, J-P -

Not sure of the particulars, other than to say that you might be opening up a big can of "Might-as-wells". Unless you improve the breathing (intake AND exhaust), you may not see much improvement.

I'll be interested to hear other opinions...

JP - did you notice in the ad the seller says "shipping by courier"? Does he sell outside the UK?

That depends Bro, as stated earlier, you might not see a whole lot of difference unless you optimize what you already have. Not only that, it may make it worse on the street depending how big of difference from what you already have. That being said, it may be like the difference b/w the Spit 1500/1300 cam and desirable. So, if you need a cam "anyway" it may not be a bad way to go.....or not

...that being said, I always feel it's a good idea to pick up weird or rare parts for whatever project I have cause you just never know....wife and budget permitting of course. You may use it or need it for trade material.

I say buy it, but then again I have every type of induction system avalable for the 1500 except for FI or flat slides......for now

Whats the lift and duration on this cam? How different are they from your stock one? If you go with this cam are you planing on doing any head work? I wouldn't advise changing the cam without at least opening up your ports a little to help with breathing. So I guess I am on the same boat as Billy, Mickey and everyone else.

Thanks all - I did a little research and it seems like there is a lot of reasons to like a Piper 270 - Other websites list it as the cam MGB's (in that instance) "should have come with" that said, I think I will let it pass for now - I need to do a bot more research to see if it worth it. I also looked at the cams I have and they seem to have little to no wear. So, maybe next time but for now, look at the money I saved! thanks
