Non-technical, hands on method by Master British Mechanic Tracy:

Changed my belt last month in 15 minutes, without using jack, untightening cross member bolts, while '72 TR6 on jack stands, tranny in shop for rebuild. Tools needed long screwdriver or pry bar.
(1) Loosen alt/gen bolt
(2) Remove fan belt
(3) Move fan belt down over H20 pump
(4) Push fan belt down squeeze under cross member
(5) Pull fan belt up between crossmember & back of fan
(6) Once bottom of fan belt is free
(7) Squeeze bottom of fan belt between back of fan, steering rack & frame
(8) Pull fan belt out between front of fan & back of radiator. Reverse how to for re-install.

On another forum someone posted:
julius, try it with the tranny back in.

My response:
Your response had me trippin' wanting to verify posting correct info, just simulated fan belt install. On my '72 TR6 tranny back in, sitting in the garage, rubber on the floor, fan belt install using spare fan belt (no tools/jack)

Proof in the puddin'

(1) Slid spare fan belt between front of red 13 blade radiator fan & rear of radiator, then over 13 blade radiator fan
(2) Positioned fan belt between rear of red 13 blade radiator fan & front of cross tube
(3) Using fingers squeezed/pushed/pulled (maneuvered) fan belt through gap under cross tube
(4) Entire spare fan belt now positioned on back side of cross tube ready to install on h20 & other pulleys
