Glad you got it sorted out. Wish I could have helped more, but that new fangled engine under there doesn't make any sense to me. Smarter folks than me were nearby. Maybe the Spider felt neglected, and wanted some attention. It is a nice looking car, after all.

I don't know about the 3's, but I'm told that the early spit engines were Ferguson. That's what the points that I put in were.

[/ QUOTE ]As "Banjo" has already noted, it was the wet-liner TR engines that were derived from the Standard Vanguard AND Standard-Triumph-built Ferguson tractors. Spitfire motors are a whole 'nuther subject.

But Spitfires up to the mid-1970s used an AC Delco distributor rather than Lucas, and the wear bits (points, rotor, cap) in those Delco units fit a lot of American iron as well. I discovered around 1973 that the rotor was the same as that in my '51 Chevy, for example!

Funny you should say that. As we were coasting down the hill during the parade, one guy yelled "Awesome looking car" to us. I figured that should have made her feel better. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

I had someone yell "I want to buy your car" -- he also yelled "I want to buy your girl" (my wife) so I think he may have been making an early start to the day, so to speak. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
