Factory 100M

They ain't cheap no more.

I know......

As I get older, I am finding I need to simplify my life, sell a couple of cars and drive one that makes me smile.

Not sure it would do that if it was cheap.

What's wrong with cheap fun and a little extra cash in the bank?

And look at how often "cheap" LBCs turn out to be something else entirely.

Always makes me wonder what a real 100M is defined as, given that the original BN1's didnt have the fluted bonnet!

The a-z of the 100M is spelled out in the just published special edition of AHCUSA magazine celebrating 50 years of the model. (Excellant job - editor Reid Trummel) Don't have it in front of me but I think there are 640 official 100M's, all BN2s.

Thanks Derek. Yes, there were 640 100M models made. All other Healeys with Le Mans kits and louvered bonnets and such are merely cars fitted with aftermarket accessories, and are not properly called "100M" -- that's the name of a very specific model that was built and sold as the 100M, and there were 640 made. We have the Car Nos. (VIN's) of all of them.

That said, and to get back to the original subject of this thread, while the 100M is a wonderful car (I own one; see small photo of same below my signature), any Healey Hundred -- series BN1 or BN2 -- gives you a wonderful driving experience, and of course you can find plain BN1 and BN2 cars for far less money than you'll likely have to pay for one of the 640 100M models. Something to consider, unless of course money is absolutely no object in which case please contact me privately! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Its just that i'm under the impression it was the BN1's that were first raced in this config (was it 4 prepped by the factory?)

Yes, basically, but those were special cars, specially prepared, and not a part of regular production. You could think of them as prototypes of what was to become the 100M.
