Fabulous E Type Picture

I get the Hemmings Motor News e newsletter. Typically they will put in a "what do you see?" picture from the past. This mornings is from Yosemite National Park. Right in the middle is an E-Type. Feel free to identify the other cars, but, what struck me was how unbelievably different it was from literally everything else out there. I know that it was - I have read it 100 times, but, we get so used to just seeing them that the impact is no longer there. Imagine walking around the corner and seeing this compared to pretty much everything else in the lot, (except possibly (and ironically) the VW's)

I have an E-Type roadster now and had a 67 Coupe in high school. It didn't seem like a small car, but when you look at that coupe next to the Impala you realize it is a pretty small car after all.

Both the E-Type and Yosemite are right there as best in class. Both are too cool.
The 57 Ford to the right of the Jag reminds me of my dads brand new yellow/white 57 Ford 4 door with a T-Bird engine(?). Leaked more than my TR when new, doors didn't work, he was so disappointed, sold it and got a 60 Chevy convertible. Hey Mom, surprise!

It really is isn't it.

And just think of following those VWs up the hill into Yosemite! Slow going.

When my mother and her sister came to Canada, in 1956, they flew to Canada, visited their brother and his new bride, bought a Morris Minor for $250 and drove it back to Toronto via the USA. They tell the story of driving to Yosemite until the car stopped and started rolling backwards.

Years ago, a friend of mine drove a Hillman like this one Left Side-Top Half Folded.jpg up the back side of Tioga Pass into Yosemite. Tioga Pass tops out just shy of 10,000 ft. Apparently, the backup was almost back to Hwy 395.
