TR4/4A Exterior of TR4 gas tank...inside OK

Rust got to the top of the tank on the outside to the point where it was pitted but not bad enough where holes are an issue. I wire brushed the area and stabilized the rust with a chemical. Now I would like to skim coat the surface. Any Ideas on what to use.
 
POR15 would be one choice. Simple Rustoleum or Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator would be alternative choices.
 
Agree, but you should still seal the inside of the tank. It's a two or three step process, Most bike shops carry it around here, but the above mentioned also have one.
