MGC Expanding the MGC Tourer Search

Howdy all: As I continue to search for an MGC tourer, I have decided to expand my search to include not only a good driver, but I'm willing to spend market prices on a concours quality car. I have solid LBC credentials, and can promise that I will treat the car with love and respect, and can provide the technical skill needed to keep the vehicle in good order.

I am also glad to say that I am fairly well-versed in things Octagonal -- I grew up in a household that had a TC and a TD, have been to site of the old factory at Abingdon and can identify Cecil Kimber from photographs. For those New Englanders out there, I even participated in the New England T-Register's Circuit of Britain in 1990 in my father's TD.

Sooo, I hope you'll look favorably upon my request.

Let me tell you, when I bought my TR-250, the POs wanted to make darn sure that I had LBC credentials. It was like an adoption! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

The PO of my TR8 was the same way. As soon as he saw my TR6 he had zero reservations. Now we are both happy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Guess that makes sense if you are buying an excellent example that the PO wants to make sure is not turned into a daily driver maybe.

My TR8 was a daily driver before I got and it is now as well. It's my main transportation. The PO wanted it to go to someone who would use it AND keep it up. Another would be owner wanted it for his 16 year old son and the PO wouldn't sell it to him because of that.

Well there are daily drivers and then there are daily drivers.

I bought a show winning car and put it into daily service. When it's tired, I will rebuild it just the way it was and then put it back into daily service again. What's the point of owning a car you can't drive? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hear, hear. Well said, Steve.

The only days my TR8 doesn't get driven are days that I either don't leave home, have flown out of state or I have my TR6 out for the day. When I call it a daily driver, I don't mean daily driver capable. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yea, ment it goes when you need to go. Too work, to play, whatever.

I know what you mean. The POs of my 250 loved their car, had a lot of memories tied up in it, and they wanted to ensure that the car ended up with someone who would enjoy it, use it regularly, and had the skill and desire to keep it on the road and in good condition. I remember the POs asked us to email them to let them know we got home in the car safe and sound (we had a 200-mile drive in pouring rain), and in their reply, they said they were so thrilled it was going to someone who would love it the way they did. In truth, if I ever sell Greenie (which I never will, of course), I'd want to make darn sure it went to someone who would care for it as I do. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

Can sure understand that, getting rid of one, especilly if you did a nut and bolt on it is tramatic. Is like selling a child if you have had it for a long while as well.

I expect mine will go to my estate, I'll be past caring.

Let me know if you want me to crank up my antennae....hehehe

Having done a nut and bolt frame-off on my Healey, I can relate to that. I cannot ever imagine selling the car unless it was the only thing standing between me and living in a refridgerator box. Even then, I think I'd keep the car and sleep in it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
