Exhaust

That is some pipe, Cheech and Chong would be jealous. What diameter is that, I have 2.5 and that looks bigger, or is it just the picture?

Pat

Pat,
It's been a few months since I did that mockup, but if I remember correctly the Winner's Circle LCB header is 1 7/8" and all other piping is slightly larger (2"). The Cherry Bomb muffler has a 2" ID on the input nipple (as well as the outflow) and I'll be using a 3 1/2" Flowmaster turnout (available at Summit Racing) on the end (see photo). Little restriction other than the muffler baffles...and that's not much on the Cherry Bomb.

Ok..Everything seems to be working. Didn't have the glass packs yet so taking someones advice and tried a couple motorcycle mufflers. I had a couple Harley mufflers in my garage put them on and sounds great! Still want to put the cherry bombs on it, but the Harley mufflers do sound GREAT. MG sounds like its mean. Just an update.

Ray, thanks, from the second picture it is definately da bomb.

You are going to setoff some (hehe all) car alarms my friend.

I use a single cherry bomb muffler for Lime Rock. On my car, it comes out the right side because I'm running a 1500 (TR) engine. I hold it on with a rod that fits in my jackpoint hole. I can pull the rod out and remove the muffler in about 2 minutes. For other tracks I just run straight pipe about 2 foot long exiting under the right side door.
I doubt back pressure has any effect on these cars. A long center branch header at racing RPMs will make a difference on A series engines (due to good scavenging effect), but otherwise, I wouldn't be too concerned about back pressure.

Scott has a similar setup on his 1500 race Spridget (with a sportbike muffler). He did a nicer job than me.

Mine is the first picture.

Scott's is the second.
