MGB Exhaust Systems

I am rebuilding an MGB MK2 and would like it to sound properly sportscarish.

I read in the Sprite forum that they have a lot of suscess fitting a single Harley Muffler.

Maybe the engine is a little large for this has anyone tried it?

Can anyone point me towards any favourite designs that have been proven?

I recently installed a Tourist Trophy stainless steel exhaust on the wife's 71 MGB.
It has a single rear muffler. Fits great and increases ground clearance .
it is a bit throaty at WOT but produces a nice deep hum at highway speeds and light
throttle. The polished rear muffler looks fantastic.

Another option: On our '73, I had a local muffler shop fit a small reverse flow muffler in the center, and a glasspack at the rear. Very nice result - just enough sound to please, but not at all intrusive.

Installed a Falcon stainless system from Moss on the 72 and love the sound, soft but a little throaty. The fit was perfect also. PJ

Ov my last MGB I, like Mickey, had a local shop do the exhaust. Glasspack in the middle, regular muffler at the tail. Worked nice and had good ground clearance. Had I kept the car i was going to replace the rear muffler with something a bit more open.

I installed a Tourist Trophy system on my 1968 MGB and I'm very happy with it. Easy to install, looks great, and has a very nice sound to it, esp when you get over about 3000 rpm.

I installed the Tourist trophy system on my car but I had to add some thickness to the flange on the header pipe to bring the width of the header pipe to the same width as my Weber intake manifold, kinda of a pain, you'd think they'd think of this.

On the Falcon stainless system, the flange on the header pipe is actually thicker than the original. PJ

I just found out that Moss doesn't sell them anymore. Possible another vender does. PJ

Used to fit Stebro systems to mine until they went stupid on pricing. Now the Ansa systems are what I fit.

:iagree: I installed ANSA dual pipes on my TR6 and love the sweet sound they make.
