62 TR4 (very similar to tr3a/b)

has a lot of performance options, including a header. when we put the thing back together, i naively used a single gasket for the exhaust, and its not quite tight. i have heard that there are thicker gaskets available, although perhaps just using 2 or 3 of the stock gaskets might solve the problem.

any recommendations?

Check the bottom of the header flange. If the head has been milled that flange will interfere with the top of the block making the header angle out a bit and leak along it's lower edge. Solution is to grind away some of the bottom of the flange which will allow the header to mate flush with the head. Of course it might be the flange is warped and not flat and in that case maybe additional gaskets will help. I'd check for interference first.

the header is not new to the car/engine. i think its just not prefectly flat. i found out about remflex gaskets. i'm going with one of those. maybe two.
