Exhaust hangers?

Crisis

Jedi Hopeful

Anybody install a new exhaust system lately? I'm having trouble with mine (stock on a 73 TR6). I have attached the rear hanger, the one that goes to the bracket on the rear side of the muffler. And I have attached the bracket to engine mount and front-intermediate pipes. It's the one on the front side of the muffler I'm having trouble with. The strap doesn't seem to come down far enough? If I were able to get it done up it would only be with the muffler actually touching the bottom of the trunk. I didn't think that would be right.

Perhaps I am attaching the hanger to the wrong hole? I'm attaching it through the rear axle cross-member? There is a hole there and that's where the last one was hung from-but it was not stock.

Anyone remember this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The hanger attaches to one of the ubolts connecting the muffler to the exhaust pipes; theres a hole in one of the vertical stiffener plates directly above through which you bolt the upper end of the hanger; if you have the right hanger strap it should work no problem. Paste this link to see the TRF layout.

Graham,
Thanks for your reply. I think maybe I'm trying to attach it to the wrong point on the frame. I'm trying to attach that bracket to a hole in the rear axle support as in DC16 on this page in the TRF catalog. https://www.zeni.net/trf/TR6bluebook/108.php

I'm wondering if there is another attachment point? Maybe I've got the wrong end of the pipes going to the muffler? I gotta look at this again from the beginning. It looks like it would be the correct length of strapping.
Thanks.

I just found a very informative photo on Paul's site (frame stripping and POR15) that shows his rubber strap hanging down beside the diff. Looks like I'm trying to attach to the right spot?

Should be a hole in the DC16 piece on the right side of the car right below DC19 piece in the picture in the link you gave above, if you're under the car it's a fair ways up there, not easy to see and not real easy to get the bolt through and the nut onto the back.
