Everyone,

I recently purchased a Lotus Europa. I am excited and pleased at the purchase. But I have a question. The car is currently not running under it's own power. I am having a flatbed tow truck go and pick up the car. My question is where should the operator put the tow hook up at on the car? It is a flatbed style tow with a winch that is operated to pull the car onto the flat bed. I don't want to damage the frame of the car and I didn't see any tow hooks attached to the frame of the car. What is the best way to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have the driver use STRAPS, wrapped around the frame at the crossmember outer ends where the a-arms are to pull it onto the truck, and keep telling him the car is NOT a chevy! No excessive loading of the chassis/suspension when tieing it down. It only weighs 1600 pounds or so, so it ain't gonna fly off th' bed with reasonable anchorage; and bent bits will COST him. Mebbe a couple months' wages if he's hard of listenin'. Press the point, I've seen sooo many Lotus suspensions damaged this way it's near-criminal.
 
Have it pulled on backwards using the rear hoop. For tie downs, have them use the straps that pull down on the tires. Do not under any circumstances let them pull down on the suspension itself. It is guaranteed you'll bend them. That's really the only safe way to tie it down. Make sure the engine cover and front trunk lid are securely fastened. Sometimes tape on the leading edge of each will help if you are concerned about them flying off.
