Don't be in Utah on a Sunday. They close the state. We were in Boise, a college town and only restaurant open was Red Lobster and that was a 1 1/2 hr wait.

Since I didn't get any serious responses - I guess I'll just make a trip of it.

Doug,
i'd suggest you continue on I-70 into MO and pick up I-64 in Wentzville, MO which is just west of St. Louis. Depending on the time of day and if you like ice cream you should stop at Ted Drews Frozen Custard at 6726 Chippewa St (old Hwy 66) in St Louis.
Alternate route is to stay on I-70 into St. Louis and pick up I-64 across the bridge in IL.

There are great places to see anywhere you go. When I made my cross country trip a year ago, I planned the route to visit people I had met over the last forty years. And *that* was the best thing I could have ever done.

Here's my stop visiting friends in Palo Alto, California, after driving from Connecticut.

Did the same in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iillinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee (!), and Virginia.

And if you don't already know people along your chosen route, meet new ones!

Keep track of your antics Doug, might be making the opposite trip in Sept

Doug, daughter moving to BC. So I will soon be driving her stuff from SC to BC

DOH!!!
Tell me about it!!!
Was just in Seattle and had to drive her up to the border for her work visa.
Shot a whole day

IF the US guberment treated the FX houses the way the Canadians do... it could be anywhere here

Reserved the Penske truck - Only $428 one way!
Uhaul wanted $1850.

I'm hoping to visit Drew,in Utah,& Mickey in Tennessee.

You're always welcome here, Doug. There's an excellent Mexican place right up the street from my house. They're even open on Sunday! (This is indeed a rare thing here in Utah.)

Not too sure about Richmond but Williamsburg would be on my list. And there's a Maritime museum in Newport News I'd like to go back and see.

Our Daughter/Granddaughter live in Richmond,
& our Son & his family live in the Norfolk area.
Our Son will be on the new aircraft carrier -
the USS Gerald Ford (CVN 78).

Well after doing some price comparison
POD style container-$4400
Rental Truck-$ 3200
Truck and car trailer- $3600
Mini Van Rental- $2500

This includes meals, lodging and gas for the whole trip. (Saved gas on the car trailer but cost more for gas in the truck and the trailer cost more than the gas for the Accord) and flight back for me

WE decided not to bring her little bit of furniture and pack everything in the Accord and head off on Tuesday. She'll buy new Ikea stuff when she gets there.
We will sell the other or use it.
Car is getting serviced tomorrow and the 2 month free Sirius XM is already loaded.

Road trip
For me about the 4th time ...for my daughter first time all the way across in a car. she's done a couple Seattle to Bismark trips with me before ...but first time for her to see the other states
