Finally got my wheels down to Hendrix for the full spa treatment and new 'Federal' tires. WOW, what a difference.

The car has been up on jack stands basically blocked in the garage by Willy's B on jack stands in the drive. (The pressure is on for Watkins Glen next weekend.) We got his front end finished, installed, sorted out (sort of) and off the stands today (my wheels came back yesterday - Thanks, Jerry) So, we finally let her roar to life and rolled her out...

What a beautiful day, despite the portent of all the nasty stuff in the South (our thoughts and prayers are with you) it was just a perfect day here.

My 20 year old son has been salivating since he a was a teenager to drive the Healey, given my euphoric state of mind, I let him have his way, he hasn't stopped talking about it since this afternoon!

After a 30 minute drive we washed and dried and just admired, another 'essential' errand late in the day took about an hour.............all is right in this part of the world tonight!.................... :driving:
 
Wouldn't be surprized if the young lad buys an LBC soon. :laugh:

Dave, this is the type post that motivates me to work on my car. I know the feeling you're describing, but it's been WAY too long since I've been there.

After a long 8 hours at church, had a late lunch and took my 14 year old for a serious country drive.

Any one who knows upstate New York, understands how perfectly beautiful and verdant it is, especially in late summer.

Long stretches of 2 lane pavement through hill and dale, mature corn fields, hay fields ready for the third cut, and stunning views of valleys, filled with dairy farms.

Hardly any traffic, people all gathered at friends and families for the long weekend.

Two years of intensive maintenance and tune-up have left the car running and driving perfectly on the newly Hendrix-balanced wheels and tires, flawless, just flawless! I'm at a loss for words, it was that good.

Have you noticed, it doesn't matter what gear you're in, you can push the accelerator and have the car respond? Oh, the torque and power, it's just so gratifying.

Came home at little after 5 to charcoal grilled steaks. Somebody pinch me!

It's amazing the bond that can be put together and a memory that will last a life time.My dad took me for a ride in his 58 MGA 45 years ago.I'll never forget that night as long as I live.Today I drive a Austin Healey. Life is Good!!!!

Oh how I can relate. I first caught the LBC bug when I was about 8 when my neighbors had a '57 MG TD BRG, in their garage. The neighbor kid and I would spend hours taking turns behind the wheel playing "Boy Racer". On special nights his father would take us for ice cream runs in the summer. I loved those low cut suicide doors.
Fast forward 20 years I now have an 8 year old and looking to find a common interest for us both in this age of computers and electric games. The LBC was the perfect fit. Here's a photo taken 10 years ago when Dylan was 8 in our 1965 AH MKIII, BRG. He navigated for me during the Austin-Healey West Coast Meet Rally in Central Oregon 1998. He's working on himself now, but I believe he'll be an important part of my vintage race crew in the future. The LBC really transcends basic transportation in multitude of ways.
