engine storage

I am getting ready to pull the engine on my TR6 and store it for about 3-5 years. The engine runs now, but I plan on rebuilding it, because I want to increase the HP. So how should I store this engine?

If you are going to rebuild it and have the room, I would take it apart and grease all the parts where they touch and run against each other. Then wrap each part in a oil covered cloth. It takes a bit more room to store it, keep the block off the ground and put it up on treated wood, every part in the valve train should be marked as to which rod and lifter go together, unless you are going to lite weight on the rebuild. Coop--I assume you want to store intact in a garage and will be restarting the engine in the future. Be sure to:
--On your last engine run, fog the intake heavily and drain the carb bowls. Cover carb intakes with plastic.
--Open engine block coolant drain valve (near starter) and force as much coolant out as possible with compressed air.
--Not required, but I would loosen the rocker gear nuts to close all the valves.
--Remove plugs and fog each cylinder and rotate engine to distribute the oil. Replace plugs finger-tight.
--Drain oil sump (don't refill) & remove filter.
--I wouldn't clean the block exterior as the grime is protective.

no I don't plan on restarting "this" engine.
The next time it starts it will be the engine that will go in the car for good.
