Engine Question

I'm restoring a BJ7 that was totally disassembled when I bought it. Presently I am reassembling the engine after much machine shop work. There are two short pipes, one 1/2" diameter by 4.25" long, and one 13/16" diameter by 5" long, both are threaded on one end. I believe the larger screws into the rear main bearing cap, but have no idea where the smaller one goes as it would thread into any of the other three main bearing caps. The manual I have says nothing about them, and the only one I can find in the Moss exploded diagram is the larger pipe.

I expect this will not be the last question I have to ask before this engine rebuild is complete.

HI JPF:

The larger pipe is the drain tube that threads into the rear main bearing cap.

The smaller tube threads into the oil pump.

I even have a picture of that.

Some days I get so confused, I just don't know who I am.

I'm sure we'll get back to our abnormal selves soon enough
