Engine Oil Leek Raising Some Concerns

Hi everyone. Its been a while since having some time to come to the forum but I knew you all were still here keeping things going. My 78 Midget 1500 has been used daily anymore as my everyday driver due to some things that transpired ealier this year and lately I noticed a lot of oil dripping from under the engine. I always had a small drip or 2 left behind but this is a much bigger deal. I keep looking to see where its coming from and the only thing I can tell is the oil puddles on the actual lower frame rails around the engine and in some cases ends up dripping on the exhaust header (smoking and smelling). So Im wondering if there is a seal or something in the front of the block that could have gone bad allowing the oil to drip down on the lower frame rails and run around. I cant really see anything else on the sides of the block that it could be coming from. The distributor base has a small amount of oil leaking signs but I tightened up the 2 bolts for that and have that straightened out. Any idea's?

Welcome back!
it could possibly be your front oil seal- or your timing cover gasket that has gone bad. fairly easy to fix, remove radiator, water pump, and unbolt both front engine mounts-jack up engine so you can remove front pulley-you may have to unbolt steering rack as well to get clearance. remove timing cover-replace seal and gasket. assembly is reverse of dis-assembly.
