Engine ID

Recently I bought a 59 Bugeye that has what someone thinks is an early 1275, possibly from a Cooper S. The serial number plate is gone, but the block says: 12G 432 on the side near the water drain valve. The engine has tappet covers.

Can anyone verify what motor this is?
