I am looking at replacing the oil in the engine and gearbox of my BJ7. I have read alot of posts about using either Castrol GTX 20-50 or Valvoline VR-1 50 I see a lot of the posts are from warmer climates. Up here in Maine would you use the same?

Both work fine overhere ;-)

Yes but IMOP VR1 is a better choice

Why not use 30 wt. non-detergent as manual recommends in transmission. Castrol 20w50 in engine. It's what I use in Michigan for 30 years.
