Engine crank shaft nuts

When rebuilding an engine it's probably best to replace the crank shaft nuts. Both the main caps and the big end of the rods. Correct?

AH Spares is out of stock and Moss doesn't seem to offer them.

The crank nuts that are currently on the car are nylon lock nuts. That seems a little strange. I've read a few posts that argue whether or not any kind of lock nuts add any value given the torque applied in the case of crank nuts.

Is there any good reason why I shouldn't just use the original nuts cleaned with alcohol and apply red locktite thread locker?
