Air Force retires T-37

The T-37 is what my son (a KC-135 AC) did his initial AF pilot training in, before moving on to the T1 trainer.

Tweet?, What was it?

It was the trainer aircraft (jet) that the US Air Force has used sine the 1950's for training Air Force pilots. Tweet was short for "Tweety Bird" one of its nick names. It is also referred to as the flying dog whistle (because of the high-pitched sound it makes when flying)

Well, that explains a lot. Columbus AFB is a training airbase that flew T37 and T38's. They would use the local airport for touch and go training. I live 1/4 mile from the airport and always heard them practicing. Had a nice sound to them. I'll miss them. :cryin:

Tweets 'n "White Whales"... I got a ride in a Tweet in Detroit. The ANG there had 'em. Great air-to-air photo bird.

And I SWEAR I saw a T-38 on approach to the air base here a week ago. Thought it was an F-16 "lawn dart" from the sound but when I got a glimpse of it th' tail it was unmistakeable. F-5. Pretty-pretty.
