Encouraging a friend

I have an old friend who has enjoyed my passion of an lbc for many yrs. He is my beer brewing buddy that I also enjoy playing disc golf and darts with. We have talked of his ownership of an lbc and he has declined on a spit, and a TR 6(he is single with a good job, but tight with his money in a good way). Today, another friend called about a TR 4 that could be a really nice car for him. I really think maybe a TR3 is his dream, but the right car and the money part, I just don't know. It will be interesting to see just what he will do. Any thoughts.

Biggest thought I have is that if he really does have a dream car, that he should pursue that one. When I started my car quest, I was really thinking about either a Bugeye or a TR3. Bought a TR4 as my first, and it just wasn't right (and was really rusty to boot, my fault). I've been *much* happier since I got the Tunebug.

I wrote up some of my thoughts after my car quest:

Maybe some of these ideas could help. Being on the hunt is fun, though I'm happy to be past that, at least for a while.

I "pushed" a buddy into a car that he should have wanted. He wanted an old car to play with and that he would enjoy. 1956 fairlane two door. $1200 and we drove her home!! He sold it in about a year... Haven't talked about it much and that has been about 10 years ago. ????
My suggestion is to let him find and get his own. It might help with the passion/sickness also.

Andrew, I read your letter and will share it with my friend. He, as I stated, does watch his money and I don't think I will push him into anything he doesn't want. However, I did present him with this car, and really it would be a great car if he would want it. But it is not the urban legend of something for nothing.

I certainly understand watching money (I work for a school, after all, and my Yankee mother taught me well). Biggest thing is that he gets something he'll want, whatever that is for him. Little old cars are certainly not for everyone.
