I have a 72 MGB that the emergency brake lever is stuck in the up position. How can I get this disconnected? Do I have to remove the pasenger seat? The car is sitting outdoors so there is no way to get it on a lift.
Any help???

Welcome to the forum Dan. You posted this in the Forum Assistance forum, which is intended for asking questions about how the forum software works. I'll move this post to the MG forum when lots of MG folks can see it.

Remove the seat, then you can get to the screws.

If it's sat outdoors for any length of time the pivot pin and linkage would likely be the issue. As stated in the other thread, PB Blaster soaking the pivot from the inside and from underneath is a good start.

Yep - Doc's correct...you can get to the rear cable connections/movements from underneath...they're probably frozen either there by the centerof the rear end or out on the ends by the brakes.

To get to the connection at the handle end, you'll have to remove the passenger seat & pull it from under the car (though you might want to slide up under the car to see if you can get PB Blaster to it.

Maybe soon....
