Email problem

I've have two email accounts, as of this morning my Gmail one one works perfectly, the other that I've had for 10 years and use strictly for business, for the first time this morning asked for my password, kinda strange but I reentered it and it doesn't work! The account keeps telling me it's the wrong password, which I know it isn't! Does this sound like a hack? I'll call the server this morning to hopefully get it straightened out.

Paul - if it's not the gmail account, definitely call whoever provides the problem email system to you. Gmail has had connection problems over the last week, but no evidence of hacking. But if your business email runs through a local or regional system, might want to contact them directly to see if they've been hacked. Also, be sure you're *really* connecting to that email system, and not a fake page.

Thanks Tom, I have the company phone numbers and plan on calling them this morning. It's a fairly complicated password and never had this problem before, their located in Washington State but easy to deal with. Will let you know what the problem is/was.

Guessing there was a POP/SMTP server upgrade or a fail-safe switchover and something went FUBAR. A call should sort it.

I called the company and they said they want everyone to change their passwords! They didn't notify me of the change and just shut off my account! Talked to a couple people there and you wouldn't believe the course I have to take to get every thing back where it was. Sooo, I'm moving everything important to a new email server, the rest I'll just dump, including the old server. :encouragement:

Good on you Paul. Illegitimi non carborundum.

When it comes to Hackers their are no bounds they will try, This is what I got this morning before 10 AM; FedEx drooped off a small box say 10x10 from Lowes. Now I did just order a new Fridge from Lowes last week. . The address and my wife's name was correct. The packing list did not match the item inside a towel ring. The funny part was that the packing list listed an lamp she had looked at on line but did not buy for a price much less than what she looked at. and last the item was payed for with a AMX card which we do not have. I just got back from our Lowes store and gave it all to them. They said it would go to their FRUAD Dept.

Question to all; did someone see or Lowes acc. billing, web searches, all good questions I think. Madflyer

Yup! Plenty of providers out there. no need for you to do someone else's work for them. That effort can be used to move to a different server.

Funny part is, I've had this server for almost 10 years and it'll take a little time to get rid of all the little bits and pieces stuck here and there. Since I have a backup portable hard drive, I thought of wiping the computer drive and reloading it. Takes about 3 or 4 hours but it does it automatically, problem with that, the email server is on it! Guess I'll have to fix this manually. Fun fun! :censored: I do have an uninstall program that supposedly picks up all the dribbles and deletes them, I'll try that first. :encouragement:
