Hi all
I would like to pass along some interesting information relating to TR4 and 4A wiring. I have an early 65 4A #CT55091. I bought a new harness many years ago and now I am installing it.
Comparing the wiring diagram from the manual and the one published by Dan Masters, I have discovered some differences that may raise questions.
TR Manual: Horn powered from starter solenoid, no relay
6 lamps powered from rheostat
No wiring for flasher repeater in sidelamps
No provision for two speed wiper motor (ask me for exact wiring)
I had to run another wire from wiper motor B/G to terminal 6 on switch
Mix-up in L.H. and R.H. description of direction indicator (#41,42 and 47,48)
Masters:
Horn powered from voltage regulator terminal A1 with relay
8 lamps powered from rheostat (not sure what the other two are)
The Masters TR4 diagram more closely fits my 4A in parts, and not in other parts.
There may be other discrepencies since I still have to finish tail direction and brake and license lamps.
Finally, using my Fluke meter to chase continuity I sometimes had problems with oxidized contacts and bad connections. The ignition warning lamp was the poster case of a bad contact and sent me up the wall.
Hope this helps someone
