Electrical question

The dynamo on my 100 has given up in a big way and a friend has brought me one out from England.I can see why it was cheaper! But I have to use it as I need the car this week.
However it is negative earth with one connector on the end in the normal place and one on the side on the body of the dynamo. What do I do to convert it to positive?
Curtis
PS It is smaller and I hope will fit inside the mounting brackets.

Hi Curtis,
Before you run the engine or connect the new generator.

With both wires disconnected from the generator, MOMENTARILY connect a jumper from the battery hot (negative) connection, on the solenoid or fuse block, to the smaller terminal (field) on the generator. This will "flash the field" - reverse the magnetic poles that were established in the field coils. Reconnect the two wires to the generator as normal. That's it.

Thanks Dave.
Can you equally do it direct from the negative terminal on the battery? I am not too sure to which connection you refer
Curtis

Yes Curtis, the negative terminal of the battery electrically is the same as the locations Dave supplied earlier,---Keoke

Thanks for the advice. In the end I have abandoned the idea of fitting it. The dynamo was too small, but could have been adapted, however the pulley shaft was the wrong size and any pulleys I had were too small for the belt!
Reckon the one I was sent was off a Sprite.
Have now ordered the 'real thing" from AH Spares which is what I should have done in the first place
Curtis

Curtis, Thats a Bugger init! Regards---Keoke

The dynamo arrived from England in three days,so that's good.
Had to change the connectors and make up a spacer to stop the pulley fouling the body, but, I'm mobile again.
Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
The sun is shining 32°+ and I'm off for a spin (not literally,I hope)
