electrical problem

My current (no pun intended) electrical problem as I complete the rebuild on my '73 'B involves the hazard/turn signal connection. When I first turn on the igniton, not only does the red ignition light, but both green turn signal indicators light. No turn signal operation is evident. I took off the hazard switch and cleaned it and it seems to be operating OK except that only the rear lights flash. The front lights will not flash with the hazard. I installed a new electronic flash unit in the hazard circuit but now I wonder about the old turn signal flasher unit. Front and rear lights work well using the headlight switch. I'm not sure where I might look for a lousy ground. I cleaned the ground in the trunk but I do not have the license plate lights installed yet if that matters. Any suggestions?

If the interior signals come on at startup, then something is not right... Something is crosswired.

Get a wiring diagram and trace out the wires. You have something connected wrong. Very easy thing to do. There's a bunch of us out here who can testify to that! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif PJ
