After I don't know how many years, I think I bought the kit from Dan about 4 years ago, I have finally finished the change over.I have the dash in the ,how does Triumph say it, the service position . All the lights work from the correct switches.I bought a 2 prong, NLS door switch for the drivers door on eBay. It says it was for a Triumph. Didn't work, never grounded to the frame. I took that one and combined it with a new 1 I had got from TRF and all the door switched turn on the light as well as the GM headlight switch. The GM switch also has a Rheo built in (Hey Stirkle) and it works great. Wipers work. Washer switch, remember I had the ? on it doesn't work but the wiring works when touch together. The new LED for the cubby is bright . All the dash light are golden with the gauges all acting proper when grounded.I still have starter issues but the starter kicks over when the new ignition switch is twisted. The starter is not installed. Even the hidden power supply switch works. I won't know if the Alt. and tack and oil pressure work until it starts up. Someday. At least I finally finish this part.

DNK-

Great News!!

Four years, huh? And here I thought I was a slow
poke at 5 months.

Were you able to get your horn button functional?
My steering wheel came with no horn button innards
and I'm not sure how to hook up dans wires to the new horn buttom.

Great job--now some photos please?

Bravo on the wiring work. To me that seems the most daunting non-engine task in Triumph land.

envy envy envy

(Wonder if I'll ever have the intestinal fortitude to replace my own harness this winter.)

decisions ... decisions ...

Triumph actually used quite a few different door switches ... there are at least 3 variants just for the Stag and AFAIK none of them fit a TR6. In addition to the number of terminals, you have to match the color of the plunger.

Not to mention the obvious, that there are a lot of "NOS" parts sold on eBay that have been on the shelf all these years because someone, somewhere, knew they were defective. The shop owner sells out (or dies) and the contents are sold at auction, then put on eBay as "NOS".

Friend of mine once bought a NOS Lucas alternator. Showed up still in the (very shopworn) Lucas box, and indeed the unit looked new. But careful examination showed the scars where it had been mounted before; and sure enough it didn't work. Seller turned out to be reasonably local and willing to stand behind his products, so we went to visit him and got to see the huge pile of parts he bought at auction. No doubt he listed the same unit again as "untested" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Oh yeah, I love it when some simple device (such as a radio or a gauge) is listed with 'didn't try it to see if it works'. Right.

I will see if I can find the receipt. Don't remember who I bought it from.
I also put 2 different ones in the boot.

More information on my custom Dan Masters Dash
This shoes the connection plugs I used for all the lights for the dash. I needed 2 of these as there are a lot of lights

I used the same connector for my dash grounds. I only needed 1 of these for my set up.

All my dash grounds go to this block that is connected to a front one. this is an early photo. There are a few more connections than this shows.

Sorry for all the photos but it is easier than describing them.
